Learning The Tarot – Let Go of Obsessions And Control – Tarot In Real Life – The Temperance Card

Welcome to Yintrospection. I’m Tara. We are still in the introduction to the Major
Arcana cards. Today we’re on card number 14. That is the Temperance card. Now, the Temperance card is a very symmetrical-looking
card. There is an angel in the center, and that’s
usually seen as Archangel Michael, and the angel has his right foot in water and his
left foot on the ground. He’s also pouring water between two cups. Today with the Temperance card, I want to
talk about the balance in our life. This card is about staying dedicated to yourself,
to your personal path. Sometimes in life we get very obsessed with
something, and we take it to an extreme. Let me give you a quick example. When I first entered college, I was working,
and trying to make ends meet um after I took out one loan. So I was trying to make up any excess that
was needed after that loan, and I became absolutely obsessed with money. With my paycheck, with how much I was spending. I thought about it all the time. I just never, ever spent money. I wouldn’t even buy a bottle of water. I swear. Recently in my life, it’s many years later,
I had a friend visit me that knew me during that time period. We went shopping together, and we were in
the store, and I got all of these shoes, and tried all of the on, and when the saleslady
asked what I was buying, I said all of them. And my friend, later that day, congratulated
me. She said that she couldn’t believe that
I did that for myself and spent so much money. And I really thought about it, and I was like
wow she knew me during a time when I was at this extreme state of- everyone knew that
I just would not spend money, I would not spend money, I would not buy something, I
would actively say things like “That’s ridiculous, don’t buy that.” And it became something that really got in
the way of my life, it got in the way of everything I was doing, because I was obsessed. So we can become obsessed with just about
anything in life really, we can become obsessed with food, we can become obsessed with money,
we can become obsessed with our relationship, with our partner’s behavior, with any little
thing that we want to put our attention on, and it’s usually keeping us from looking
at something else in our life, from moving forward with something that we actually need
to be working on and looking at. Sometimes these obsessions pop up because
we need to feel in control of something because life feels too overwhelming, but we need to
really recognize when that’s happening and be completely honest with ourselves so that
we can dial that back and find that balance again, and remove that obsessive behavior. The next card that we’ll be covering is
The Devil, and I think it’s one of the most iconic cards in the tarot that our pop culture
often takes and uses as imagery, and a lot of people have these preconceived notions
about what it means and what it is, so we’ll get into that. Thank you so much for watching today, I appreciate
it so much. Please like this video if you liked it, share
