Learning the Tarot – The Devil, Card 15 – Finding The Antidote to Poisonous Emotions and Addictions

Welcome to Yintrospection. I’m Tara. We are covering the Devil card today, and
I’m excited to present this to you, because I think this card is very misunderstood. So The Devil card is card number 15 in the
deck, and it has the Adam and Eve couple that was in The Lovers card, and this is going
to be important. So we see these two figures chained below
a devil or a demon figure, and what this represents is feeling enslaved or in bondage to something. What these things are are things like vices
and negative emotions, and our animal instincts without rational thought. What we want to find in this card is the antidote
to those things. So, if you look at the number of The Devil
card, it’s fifteen. In order to simplify that in numerology we
add one plus five, and we get six. That is actually The Lovers card. The Lovers card has the same imagery. It has the Adam and Eve couple! So what we can find in this Lovers and Devil
dichotomy is a deep answer to our problems. The Lovers is card six and six represents
harmony, it represents family, friends and relationships, it represents service to those
people and to our communities. When we live a life in service to these people,
when we live a life in harmony with those around us and with ourselves, it is harder
to stay in those difficult places, with negative emotions and with our vices. We’re more likely to find ways to get away
form them. Here’s one way I like to think about it. Some of the people that I admire most in my
life are recovering alcoholics. One friend in particular constantly inspires
me because they are dedicated to that harmony in their life, and the way that they stay
away from these old habits is through service to others, service to community. They want to help those that need their help
with the same problems and with other things, they have a more clear idea of what success
is and what it means to them, and they’re constantly working toward these things. It’s a daily struggle for someone like an
alcoholic and it’s so inspiring to see because I know that the things that I face are not
as great as theirs, and if they can manage to overcome these obstacles, I can overcome
my own. Meditate on The Devil card today and see what
it brings up in you, what does it make you see in yourself, what does it make you think
needs to change? And then meditate on The Lovers card to find
the answer to the problem, to find the antidote to the poison. Keep being patient with yourself, honor yourself,
and tell yourself that you can do this. Thank you so much for watching today, I appreciate
it. Please like this video if you liked it, share
